One year into the 5G era, India’s internet speed has witnessed a remarkable 3.6-fold increase, propelling the nation up 72 places in the Speedtest Global Index. The median download speeds soared from 13.87 Mbps in September 2022 to an impressive 50.21 Mbps in August 2023. The 5G rollout, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been a key factor in this transformation. As per Ookla’s report, India now holds the 47th position globally, surpassing countries like the UK, Japan, Brazil, and South Africa. The successful offloading of 4G traffic onto 5G networks has significantly improved network performance across various regions.
