Japan has launched its first new banknotes in two decades, featuring state-of-the-art 3D hologram technology to enhance security against counterfeiters. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida hailed the release of the 10,000 yen, 5,000 yen, and 1,000 yen bills as a historic step, designed to bolster confidence in the Japanese economy. The bills, which highlight figures like Eiichi Shibusawa and Umeko Tsuda, symbolize Japanese capitalism and women’s equality. While the new currency will circulate alongside existing notes, they feature larger prints for readability, particularly for the elderly.
