Overnight Thursday to Friday, joint US-British airstrikes targeted multiple sites in Yemen, including the capital Sanaa and the port city of Hodeida. Loud explosions were heard, with strikes also reported in Taez, targeting telecoms infrastructure. Rebel Houthi-controlled channel Al-Masirah claimed casualties from the strikes, but verification is pending. The British defence ministry stated the strikes aimed to degrade Houthi military facilities to curb attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Despite previous strikes, the Houthis remain defiant, targeting vessels, including a Greek-owned bulk carrier, in response to Israeli actions in Gaza.
