JSW Infrastructure, the second-largest commercial port operator in India, has secured the development rights for the Keni Port in Karnataka through a public-private partnership. The Karnataka Maritime Board issued the letter of award for the Rs 4,119 crore project with an initial capacity of 30 million tonnes per annum. The all-weather, deep-water port will cater to various cargoes on the west coast, benefiting industries in North Karnataka. The port’s strategic location between Mormugao Port and New Mangalore Port positions it well to handle coal and coke cargo for steel, cement, and power plants in the region. The project includes road and rail connectivity, aligning with Karnataka’s maritime growth plans.
