Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan suspended three prison officials for recommending sentence commutation for convicts in the T.P. Chandrasekaran murder case. Those suspended are Kannur Central Jail joint superintendent K.S. Sreejith, assistant superintendent Grade-I B.G. Arun, and assistant prison officer O.V. Raghunath. This decision was announced before the Leader of the Opposition’s submission in the Kerala Assembly on June 27. K.K. Rema, MLA and widow of T.P. Chandrasekharan, had sought to address the issue in the Assembly but was denied by the Speaker, who cited the government’s assurance of no planned commutations.
