The Kerala Football Association (KFA) has launched the Kerala Youth Development Project, aiming to nurture football talent in the state. The project involves a youth league featuring five quality teams across various age groups from under-13 to under-21 in all 14 districts of Kerala. Each league will select 50 players for high-quality training, with the goal of producing around 200 talented players who can potentially compete in the Indian Super League, I-League, and other football leagues. This initiative aims to transform the lives of young footballers and marks the return of the Chakolas Gold Trophy, an all-India men’s tournament last played in 1983. The project’s launch was attended by prominent football figures, including the Asian Football Confederation general secretary Windsor John and Kerala Sports Minister V. Abdurahiman.
