The Odisha government, ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections, has decided to extend its farmers’ welfare scheme ‘KALIA’ for another three years, allocating a total outlay of Rs 6,029.70 crore. The Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme, initiated in 2018-19, provides financial assistance to farm families. The cabinet has approved the budget for the next three years (2024-25 to 2026-27) to benefit all farm families under the KALIA scheme. The financial assistance will support cultivation activities, and eligible landless agricultural households will receive an additional Rs 2,000. The cabinet has also modified the release dates of KALIA assistance.
