Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest carmaker, has announced a significant investment of Rs 38,200 crore in Gujarat to boost the production capacity of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and battery-powered electric vehicles (EV). The investment includes a new plant expected to begin operations in FY29 with an annual capacity of 10 lakh units. Additionally, the company will establish a fourth production line at its subsidiary Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG), investing Rs 3,200 crore, increasing SMG’s annual capacity from 750,000 to 10 lakh units, including 2.5 lakh EVs. Maruti Suzuki aims for a total production capacity of 40 lakh units by FY31 across its facilities in Haryana and Gujarat.
