Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has announced that its Gujarat-based unit, Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG), has crossed the milestone of producing over 30 lakh vehicles. SMG achieved this milestone in approximately 6 years and 11 months since starting operations in February 2017. The facility has an annual production capacity of 7.5 lakh units, and the vehicles manufactured there are distributed both in the domestic and export markets. The Gujarat plant is set to play a role in the production of battery electric vehicles starting in the fiscal year 2024-25. Around 50% of the vehicles produced at SMG in 2022-23 were exported to global markets. Maruti Suzuki recently acquired SMG from Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC), making it part of Maruti Suzuki’s operations.
