As Pakistan approaches its general elections on February 8, members of the minority Hindu community, particularly in the southern Sindh province, express feelings of exclusion from the poll process. While the census shows Hindus account for about 2.14% of Pakistan’s total population and nearly 9% in Sindh, concerns arise regarding their representation and voter registration. Leaders argue that many lower-caste Hindus, living in remote areas, lack proper identification documents, affecting their voter registration. Despite being the largest minority community in Pakistan, they claim their representation and impact in the election process remain inadequate, calling for proper registration and increased parliamentary seats for minorities.
