Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma announced a remarkable 52% increase in Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection for April this year compared to the previous year. According to Union Finance Ministry data, Mizoram collected Rs 108 crore in April 2024, up from Rs 71 crore in the same period the previous year. Lalduhoma credited this growth to the diligent efforts of the state’s finance, planning, and taxation departments, as well as increased awareness among people and business communities about the importance of tax contribution. He emphasized the state’s improving financial stability, attributing it to austerity measures implemented by legislators and officials. The substantial increase in GST collection reflects Mizoram’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and economic growth.
