Mount Ruang, a remote volcano in Indonesia’s outermost region, erupted once more on April 19, according to local authorities and an AFP journalist. This eruption follows multiple instances of smoke and lava emissions earlier in the week, prompting thousands to evacuate. The country’s volcanology agency confirmed the eruption, reporting a plume of smoke reaching 400 meters above the peak. While officials noted a calming trend, the highest alert level remains in place, advising residents to stay more than six kilometers away from the crater. Indonesia, situated on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” frequently experiences volcanic and seismic activity.
