Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s richest man, is entering Africa’s telecom market through a partnership with Ghana-based Next-Gen InfraCo (NGIC). NGIC will provide 5G broadband services to mobile operators and ISPs in Ghana, leveraging key infrastructure from Ambani-controlled Radisys Corp. and strategic partners like Nokia, Tech Mahindra, and Microsoft. NGIC, holding Ghana’s exclusive 5G license for a decade, aims to replicate the success of Ambani’s Jio Infocomm in India by offering affordable mobile broadband. With a $145 million capital expenditure over three years, NGIC’s initiative also marks a strategic move for India to strengthen its influence in Africa.
