The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has projected a credit potential of Rs 2,43,093 crore for Bihar in the fiscal year 2024-25. The estimate, based on RBI’s priority sector guidelines and government policies, aims to support sustainable agriculture and rural development. Development Commissioner Chaitanya Prasad highlighted the importance of credit in economic growth and job creation. NABARD emphasized the need for specific planning in sub-sectors of agriculture. Despite improvements, Bihar’s credit deficiency ratio remains a concern, with Kisan Credit Card coverage limited to 25% of land holdings. Authorities urged banks to commit to achieving the credit targets set in the State Focus Paper.
