The National Asset Reconstruction Company Ltd (NARCL), popularly known as Bad Bank, faces challenges in achieving its ambitious target of acquiring stressed assets worth Rs 2 lakh crore by the end of the fiscal year. Sources from the finance ministry suggest that while NARCL has secured around Rs 93,000 crore in stressed assets so far, many identified assets have already been resolved. Despite the setback, the company, established in 2021, will persist in its role as an asset reconstruction entity. While the government has allocated Rs 30,600 crore to support NARCL’s acquisitions.
