Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has revealed the Shree Mandir Parikrama Prakalpa (SMPP), a significant peripheral development initiative surrounding Puri’s 12th-century Shree Jagannath Temple. The heritage corridor, a 75-meter-wide space encircling the temple, is now designated as the SMPP and is divided into nine zones, including a green buffer zone, ceremonial procession space, landscape zone, public convenience zone, and more. The initiative aims to promote, preserve, and protect Jagannath culture through people’s participation, with outreach programs and live broadcasts during the inauguration.
