Indian botanists have identified two new plant species in bio-geographic hotspots: Dendrophthoe longensis, an aerial stem-parasitic mistletoe found in Andaman-Nicobar Islands, and Petrocosmea arunachalense, a herbaceous plant discovered in Arunachal Pradesh’s Mandla region. Dendrophthoe longensis, thriving on Mango trees, is deemed endangered due to habitat loss and anthropogenic activities. Petrocosmea arunachalense, found in a cave, showcases unique white petals with purple markings, contributing significantly to India’s Gesneriaceae diversity.
