NLC India Ltd’s lignite-to-methanol project, with an estimated cost of Rs 4,394 crore, is projected to be completed by March 2027. As part of NLC’s diversification plan, the project aligns with the government’s coal gasification strategy for sustainable utilization. The lignite-to-methanol plant aims to contribute to the country’s net-zero goals. The total project duration is 42 months from the date of the Letter of Award (LOA). NLC had initiated a global tender for the project in October last year through project management consultancy Engineers India Limited (EIL).
