North Korea’s Supreme People’s Assembly has voted to annul all economic cooperation agreements with South Korea, including the special law on the Mount Kumgang tourism project. The decision reflects the ongoing deterioration in relations between the two Koreas. The Mount Kumgang project, which symbolized inter-Korean economic cooperation, was suspended in 2008 after a South Korean tourist was fatally shot by North Korean guards. North Korea has declared South Korea as an enemy at war and previously terminated a 2018 military pact aimed at reducing border tensions. Leader Kim Jong Un recently toured factories, emphasizing the implementation of a new regional development policy.
