Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced plans for ₹1 lakh crore worth of new railway projects in Odisha over the next five years. Addressing a BJP felicitation event in Bhubaneswar, he emphasized overcoming past neglect in railway development under previous governments. Vaishnaw highlighted the BJP-led double-engine government’s commitment to accelerate project execution, citing increased railway budget allocations to Odisha. He also noted significant achievements in railway infrastructure, including new lines and special trains for the Rath Yatra, alongside plans for electronic manufacturing and semiconductor training facilities in the state.
