Ola, the cab-aggregator, is discontinuing its operations in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, citing increased competition, government push for fleet electrification, and strategic focus on the Indian market. Operations in Australia will halt from April 12. Despite a surge in revenue by 58% to Rs 2,135 crore in FY23, Ola’s net loss narrowed by 65% to Rs 1,082 crore. The company appointed Hemant Bakshi as CEO in January, emphasizing premium services and electrification. Ola and Uber have introduced subscription-based plans for auto-rickshaw drivers, deviating from traditional booking fees or commissions.
