The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has initiated crude oil production from its deep-sea project in the Krishna-Godavari (KG) basin block KG-DWN-98/2. Expected to contribute significantly to India’s oil and gas production, the project aims to add 7% to the nation’s oil and natural gas production. For ONGC, the project will increase total oil and gas production by 11% and 15%, respectively. The move aligns with India’s goal of reducing reliance on oil and gas imports, enhancing energy security and supporting the mission for an Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India). The project’s launch follows a total expenditure of $5.07 billion.
