In response to Pakistan’s economic challenges, the government has authorized the medicinal use of cannabis, establishing the Cannabis Control and Regulatory Authority (CCRA) to oversee its cultivation and trade. With 13 members from various sectors, including government and private entities, the CCRA aims to regulate cannabis production and sales. This move, initiated during Imran Khan’s tenure in 2020, seeks to boost Pakistan’s economy through exports and domestic sales. The UN mandates strict regulations to prevent recreational misuse, imposing hefty fines ranging from Rs 1 million to 10 million for individuals and 1 crore to 20 crore for companies.
