In a rare punishment, a Pakistani court in Sindh province sentenced Fareed Qadir to 80 lashes for refusing to accept paternity of his child and falsely accusing his ex-wife of adultery. The court found him guilty under the Offence of Qazf Ordinance, 1979. Despite Qadir’s denial and withdrawal of applications for a DNA test, the court ruled against him due to lack of evidence supporting his claims. This conviction marks a rare instance of corporal punishment, subject to confirmation by the court of appeal.
