Penkoottu, known for its advocacy in women’s rights, has extended its reach into the realm of art by founding the Penkoottu Film Society, marking a significant expansion beyond its 14-year tenure as an organization for women in the unorganized sector. The newly registered society, the third of its kind in Kerala, is set to host its inaugural film festival at Mananchira square on May Day. Led by president P. Viji, Penkoottu aims to amplify its voice through diverse avenues, including cinema, as it continues to champion women’s rights in the state.
