New Delhi: As temperatures soar across the country, power demand has surged to unprecedented levels, reaching a record high of 250 GW on May 30, 2024, according to data from the power ministry. This marks the highest power demand met this summer, surpassing the previous peak of 243.27 GW recorded in September 2023. Notably, the northern and western regions achieved all-time highs of 86.7 GW and 74.8 GW, respectively. The surge in demand is attributed to soaring temperatures, with Delhi experiencing temperatures above 50 degrees Celsius.
