Reliance Jio is set to launch its Jio AirFiber, a 5G-powered fixed wireless access (FWA) internet service, on September 19. Unlike traditional broadband services, Jio AirFiber will use wireless routers to establish direct connections with Jio towers, eliminating the need for optical fiber cables. This technology allows for broader coverage and easy setup through plug-and-play routers. Jio AirFiber is expected to offer internet speeds exceeding 1Gbps, surpassing the competition, including Airtel’s AirFiber. While pricing details are not confirmed, Jio AirFiber is anticipated to be more affordable than some alternatives, making high-speed internet more accessible in India.
