The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is set to revive the Soladevanahalli pumping station, established in 1896 to supply water to Bengaluru from the Arkavathi river. The station, overseen by Diwan K. Seshadri Iyer, will treat water from Hesaraghatta lake and supply it via tankers. Chairman V. Ram Prasath Manohar lauded the historic technology and aims to address the current water crisis. Bengaluru, facing a severe famine between 1875-1877, pioneered organised water supply systems in India, with the Chamarajendra Water Works project being a significant achievement.
