Despite GPO’s attempts to dispel the misinformation with banners and announcements, people continued to gather, citing information from acquaintances. The GPO, overwhelmed by the surge, had to employ additional staff and security, resulting in 2,000 new accounts being opened in one day, compared to the usual 50-60.
