Members of Seattle’s South Asian community rallied to demand justice for Jaahnavi Kandula, a 23-year-old Indian student killed in a tragic accident involving a speeding police patrol car. Kandula was struck and killed by a police vehicle driven by Officer Kevin Dave, who was driving at an excessive speed while responding to a call. Bodycam footage revealed insensitive remarks made by another officer, Daniel Auderer, about the fatal crash. Over 100 community members met with Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell and Police Chief Adrian Diaz, urging accountability and condemning the offensive comments. Rally attendees emphasized the value of Kandula’s life and called for action against the officers involved. The Consulate General of India has also expressed concerns over the handling of the case.
