Senator Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has been selected as Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister to guide the financially strained nation and supervise upcoming general elections. Chosen by outgoing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Opposition Leader Raja Riaz, Kakar, a member of the Balochistan Awami Party, will head the caretaker government until the forthcoming elections. As the National Assembly was dissolved on August 9, elections are constitutionally due in 90 days, although delays are anticipated due to the necessity of conducting delimitation based on newly approved census results.
