A 47-year-old executive from Electronics City, Bengaluru, lost ₹1.4 crore in an online stock trading scam. After seeing a Facebook ad on April 8 promising stock market investment classes, he joined a “VIP WhatsApp group.” The scammers shared investment tips and a link to invest. Between April 8 and May 25, he invested ₹1,46,49,062 from 11 bank accounts. When he tried to withdraw his supposed profits, the process was blocked, and the contact number was unreachable. Police highlight that trading scams are common and warn against investing based on unsolicited contacts or high-return promises.
