In an unforeseen development, Shivamogga City Corporation altered its plans for the Dasara procession after one of the selected elephants, Nethravathi, gave birth to a baby on the night of October 23. As a result, the decision was made to carry the idol of Chamundeshwari in a howdah on a decorated vehicle instead of an elephant. A meeting chaired by MLA S.N. Channabasappa finalized this decision, maintaining the festive spirit of the procession, which is scheduled to commence at Seetharamanjaneya temple around 2:30 p.m. The unexpected birth led to swift adjustments in the Dasara arrangements in Shivamogga.
