Education Minister V. Sivankutty inaugurated the 24th Special School Youth Festival, affirming the government’s vision to elevate special schools into centers of excellence. The state plans to allocate ₹170 lakh from the 2023-24 Plan fund to enhance four schools for the visually impaired and three for the hearing impaired, with an initial ₹90 lakh soon to be assigned. Highlighting Kerala’s influential education model, Sivankutty emphasized its impact on inclusivity, transforming lives irrespective of backgrounds. The government’s policies have significantly affected differently-abled individuals. Further commitments include the development of a specialized sports manual to facilitate the inclusion of special needs children.
