Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe announced that the feasibility study for establishing land connectivity with India is nearing completion. He confirmed that discussions on this proposal and a potential power grid connection will feature prominently during External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s upcoming visit to Sri Lanka. Wickremesinghe also mentioned plans to explore commercial ventures for selling excess renewable energy to India. The visit, expected on June 20, will also cover Indian projects in Sri Lanka, including the Adani group’s wind power initiative in Mannar and an industrial zone in Trincomalee.
