Private equity (PE) exits in India soared by 354.5% in Q1 2024, with 50 exits worth $3.6 billion, up from 11 exits and $121.1 million in Q1 2023, according to Mazars. This rise was driven by open market exits, including strategic sales and IPOs, while secondary sales declined. The robust market conditions and successful value creation led PE firms to capitalize on favorable exits. Additionally, Q1 2024 saw a resurgence in PE deals, with 310 transactions valued at $5.2 billion, a 61.8% increase from Q1 2023. Angel/Seed investments dominated, representing 52.6% of deals, while venture capital saw a 14.6% rise in deal volume but a 27.6% drop in value.
