Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid homage to the Marudhu brothers on their death anniversary, taking the opportunity to criticize those he referred to as having “poisonous thoughts” and who have suddenly turned into “nationalists.” Although he did not mention any political party or individual by name, the Chief Minister’s remarks came in response to Governor R.N. Ravi’s charge that native freedom fighters were being ignored in Tamil Nadu. Stalin emphasized the celebration of freedom fighters whenever the DMK government is in power and recalled the unveiling of the Marudhu brothers’ statues in Chennai. The Marudhu brothers are remembered for their contributions to the fight against colonial rule.
