Air India Express, a Tata Group-owned airline, aims to double its pilot count within the next year by inducting 350 new pilots currently undergoing training. The airline, currently with 400 pilots, plans to expand its domestic footprint and introduce new flight networks. With the addition of 50 aircraft to its fleet in the next 15 months, Air India Express anticipates significant growth. The airline’s expansion is part of a broader strategy, including the ongoing merger with low-cost carrier AirAsia India. The merged entity, expected to be finalized by March 2024, will become the single low-cost subsidiary of full-service airline Air India.
