The Telangana government is actively seeking to source lithium salts from Latin America to bolster the electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage solutions (ESS) sector. The government has designated the Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation to collaborate with local joint venture partners in securing access to lithium and other minerals from Latin American countries. The state is creating a conducive ecosystem for EV and ESS manufacturing and research, with plans to establish a Telangana Mobility Valley comprising manufacturing clusters and research hubs. The government aims to host 30 GWh capacity lithium giga factories out of the 150 GWh capacity projected for advanced cell chemistry batteries in India by 2030.
