In a bid to revitalize its tourism sector, Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin announced a six-month trial offering visa-free entry to Indian and Taiwanese tourists. Previously required to apply for a 15-day visa-on-arrival, visitors from these countries can now stay up to 30 days without the hassle of presenting extensive documentation. The move follows a similar initiative for Chinese tourists in September. With tourism contributing nearly 20% to Thailand’s GDP, the government aims to attract 1.4 million additional tourists, anticipating an extra income of $1.5 billion. The prime minister emphasizes the importance of tourism in the country’s economic recovery.
