THDC India Ltd plans to inaugurate its 1,320 megawatt Super Thermal Power Project (STPP) in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, by September 2024, signaling its foray into domestic thermal energy. The project, costing approximately Rs 12,000 crore, aims to have the first 660 MW unit operational by September 2024 and the second by March 2025. The company has already spent Rs 9,428.30 crore by January 2024, with 85% of the work completed. It includes an environment-friendly carbon capture system. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone in March 2019. The plant, integrated with the Amelia coal mine in Madhya Pradesh, targets an annual generation of 9,264 million units, mainly for Uttar Pradesh.
