The second season of the Grand Prix Badminton League (GPBL) has been indefinitely postponed due to a series of withdrawals by prominent Indian players, including Mithun Manjunath and Sai Praneeth, after pressure from the Badminton Association of India (BAI), which labeled the league as “unrecognized.” The GPBL had secured temporary legal relief from the Karnataka High Court to proceed with this year’s edition, but the BAI stated that it could take retrospective action if the court eventually rules against the league. The abrupt suspension means players like Mithun will miss out on substantial earnings and the chance to compete with top players.
