India’s Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft’s propulsion module and lander module have separated after spending 34 days together. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) reported the successful separation and shared updates on X. The lander module is set to descend to a slightly lower orbit as part of planned maneuvers. Chandrayaan-3 comprises a lander module, propulsion module, and rover. The lander’s goal is to soft land at a designated lunar site and deploy the rover for in-situ chemical analysis. The propulsion module also carries a scientific payload for atmospheric study on Earth. Complex maneuvers will follow for a planned soft landing on the moon’s south pole on August 23.
