On June 30, a third batch of 6,619 pilgrims departed from Jammu’s Bhagwati Nagar base camp in two convoys to join the annual Amarnath pilgrimage in the Kashmir Himalayas. This year’s pilgrimage, spanning 52 days, commenced with about 14,000 pilgrims visiting the holy cave shrine located at 3,880 meters. Departing amidst rain, the convoy included 1,141 women in 319 vehicles, with 3,838 pilgrims opting for the Pahalgam route and 2,781 for Baltal. Since June 28, a total of 13,103 pilgrims have left from Jammu for the Valley, under the watchful eye of tight security measures.
