The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in Mumbai has suspended PhD student Ramadas Prinisivanandan for two years, citing his involvement in activities deemed “not in the interest of the nation.” Prinisivanandan’s participation in protests, screening banned documentaries, and hosting controversial speakers led to the disciplinary action. TISS accused him of misusing the institute’s name during protests and disregarding academic commitments. Prinisivanandan plans to appeal the suspension, while TISS claims he unlawfully overstayed in campus accommodation.
