Belagavi district police have detained a trader, Rafiq Bepari, and his wife over allegations of coercive conversion. The couple allegedly pressured a woman to wear a burqa and refrain from wearing a bindi. The victim, married for a decade, sought employment from Rafiq, who then purportedly orchestrated her relocation to Belagavi and attempted to coerce her into conversion. The victim lodged a complaint with the Saundatti police, leading to the arrests confirmed by SP Bheema Shankar Guled.
