Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is set to address issues related to strengthening the global economy and supporting low- and middle-income countries at the upcoming G20 summit. Her focus will include efforts on debt restructurings, the development of multilateral development banks (MDBs), and expanding the resources of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) trust fund. Yellen aims to build momentum for evolving the World Bank and other multilateral lenders to enhance financing capacity for clean energy transitions, addressing pandemics, fragility, and conflict. The Treasury estimates that these lenders can collectively unlock $200 billion in new financing over a decade. Additionally, Yellen will discuss maintaining economic support for Ukraine and increasing costs on Russia over its ongoing conflict in Ukraine. She will also work on deepening bilateral ties with India during the summit.
