Physicians for Human Rights Israel reported that two premature babies have died at Gaza’s largest hospital, Al-Shifa, due to power cuts. The neonatal intensive care unit stopped working as a result of the lack of electricity, posing a real risk to the lives of 37 other premature infants. With no fuel entering Gaza in over five weeks, hospitals relying on generators are shutting down, and Al-Shifa hospital is besieged, preventing the movement of corpses and injured individuals. Israeli military denies a siege at the hospital, while Physicians for Human Rights Israel describes the situation as a “collective death sentence.”
