Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is considering changes to the U.K.’s post-study visa scheme, which currently allows graduates to stay and work for up to two years after their degree, aiming to reduce legal migration. This move has sparked opposition within his Cabinet, particularly from Education Secretary Gillian Keegan, Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, and Foreign Secretary David Cameron. The Graduate Route, critical for attracting Indian students—the largest group using this visa—has been deemed effective by the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC).
