The upcoming Union Budget 2024-25 may see Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announcing an increase in the Provident Fund (PF) limit from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000, according to CNBC Awaz. The current limit, set in 2014, mandates that employees contribute 12% of their wages to the fund, matched by employers. Managed by a board of trustees, the PF scheme offers benefits like withdrawals for housing, medical, educational, and Covid-19 expenses. With the proposed hike, employees earning up to Rs 25,000 monthly could join the scheme, potentially enhancing financial security and flexibility.
